This song was composed by two Bahian musicians well known in the Brazilian music world for their hits. ("É DÓxum," is the best known.) The song was originally composed in an Afoxé, a Brazilian Bahian rhythm of African origin, with a strong religious touch. The agogôs and atabaques, instruments that make up Afoxé and Ijexá, are played in Candomblé and Umbanda territories in Bahia and throughout Brazil. The lyrics are very strong and talk about peace on Earth, Iemanjá (the queen of the Sea, an Afro-Brazilian religious entity much loved here in our country) and the legends of mermaids. A strong and mystical song, very necessary at a time like this, when our planet is at war. May it spread throughout the world, bringing peace and beauty!
